In 2003, bdg led an upgrade of Yahoo! Portal Builder in more than two dozen European countries for a global Fortune-50 pharmaceutical company. The project involved consolidating the individual countries’ deployments into one multi-lingual, highly available portal implementation. This included development of a customized, XML-driven registration process using JSP and Java servlets as well as a pre-RSS “newsfeed” Java application that FTPs news articles from a Reuters and other content providers, parses them to extract headlines and displays them in the portal.

This revolutionary portal-driven application - - MyYahoo! for Physicans - - was way ahead of its time in that it showcased some Web 2.0 features like content syndication and rounded corners way before Web 2.0 was even an glimmer in Tim O’Reilly’s eye.
